Scholarships are available for the 2011 conference

The Annual VEFP Conference in Roanoke provides valuable information on the design, finance and construction of new and modernized school facilities.  VEFP endeavors to offer practical, theoretical, and stimulating information on the whole process of designing and constructing new and modernized schools.  School personnel who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this process are critical to the success of all school construction projects.  VEFP wants to offer school personnel a quality knowledge base and to inspire their enthusiasm for the process. 

Therefore this year, VEFP is offering at least five (5) $500 scholarships to school division personnel who attend the 2011 VEFP Annual Conference in Roanoke.  These scholarships are intended to cover the majority of the cost of conference registration for school division personnel ($230) and two (2) nights lodging at the Hotel Roanoke ($129 a night before taxes).  The scholarships will be funded by a portion of all funds generously offered by 2011 Conference sponsors.  The VEFP Board of Directors will select scholarship recipients from all areas of the state.  Only one scholarship per division will be awarded.  Criteria will include

  1. Certification as a full time school division employee with responsibility in the areas of school design, planning, maintenance, finance, school board member, or school administrator whose school is scheduled in the division’s capital improvement plan to undergo renovation or replacement within the next five years.
  2. Attendance at all conference presentation events.
  3. Completion of a conference evaluation
  4. Preference will be given to applicants (1) whose school division travel budgets have been eliminated or (2) who have not attended a VEFP conference before or within the last five years.

The scholarship(s) will be awarded before the conference and reimbursement will be in the form of a check after the conference upon submittal of documentation of registration, hotel stay, and the completed conference evaluation.
